The focus at Sunbury Primary School is to provide a child-focussed environment that engages and empowers all to achieve personal excellence in an atmosphere of respect and integrity. The school is committed to continuous learning and the belief that every child can learn.
Sunbury Primary School is situated on Jacksons Hill in heritage-listed buildings on the southern boundary of Sunbury; 35 kilometres northwest of Melbourne, in the city of Hume. Two additional heritage buildings were refurbished ready for the 2011 school year. School facilities comprise 17 classrooms, specialist art and music facilities, library, art gallery and hall. The grounds feature significant trees; sculpture garden, horticulture centre, passive and active play areas.
The school enrolment of 393 comprises 52% boys and 48% girls and represents 270 family groups. The students are organised into 17 classrooms with a class average of 23.1 pupils. The school staff comprised 20 teaching staff, 3 principal class and 9 Education Support staff. The school structure mirrors the Victorian Essential Learning Standards levels and is organised for low class sizes from Prep – Year 6. Specialist programs in 2012 are Physical Education, Visual & Performimg Arts and Music.
