School Structure
Staff have spent a considerable amount of time recently considering options for the organisation of classes for 2012.
The enrolment projection for 2012 is 390 students. There will be 17 classes to accommodate these students, an increase of one class from this year. The average class size will be 23 students.
Given the growing enrolment at the school, the school will be organised with the following class structure in 2012.
Three Prep classes Three Year 1 classes
Three Year 2 classes Four Year 3/4 classes
Two Year 5 classes Two Year 6 classes
The specialist classes in 2012 will be Art, Physical Education and Music.
Music is a new specialist program which will operate from next year replacing Information & Communication Technology which will be implemented by classroom teachers. The school is exploring options to provide a digital device for each student in the upper classes in 2013. Further information will be available for parents during the 2012 school year.
Change to School Timetable 2012
In 2012 there will be a change to the school timetable.
This would mean that the daily timetable will be:
8.55 Warning bell – children go to rooms
9.00 First teaching and learning session
11.00 Recess
11.30 Second teaching and learning session
1.30 Lunch in rooms
1.40 Lunch outside
2.30 Third teaching and learning session
3.30 End of school day
The change will maximise core learning time, provide a better fit for expectations of 2 hours literacy and 1 hour numeracy each day and allow for 1 hour specialist sessions.
Happy Holidays
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and holiday period.
I wish our Year 6s all the best for the next phase of their education and thank them all for making 2011 such a success.
