On Fridays they had to do the gardening. The boys had a vegie
patch and on the Christmas holidays when there was no school there
would be a rostered boy to water them. All of the vegies seemed to
disappear. They would never be available when they were required.
When it was raining, the boys and girls had to eat their lunch
in the shelter shed. It used to be a real highlight to take some
lunch to school and some fancy mixed biscuits used to be out of the
ordinary. When they decided to increase the number of classrooms they
had to pull down the shelter shed.

CLASSROOM
The boys would sit on one side of the classroom and the girls
would sit on the other.
If a boy or girl played up, the boy would have to sit on the girls'
side and the girl had to sit on the other.
Some of the boys used to smoke and in the morning the teacher
would look at everybody's hands to see if there were nicotine stains.
If they did have stains they would get the strap across the
hands.
In the big room there were the grades 6, 7 and 8 and in the smaller
room there were the 4, 5 and the younger kids. To divide the 4's and
5's from the younger kids they used a curtain hanging from the
ceiling.
